This past year was a remarkable one for us at the George Street Cycling Squad – not only did we get a ton of used bikes from the public (thank you!) which Savage’s Bicycle Centre was a great help in getting fixed up (thank you!), but we got a ton of kids out on new bikes as a result of a really generous grant from the Fredericton Medical Staff Association. This grant bought us 5 new Specialized mountain bicycles and will continue to help us into the new year.
This year, we are planning to expand the club from trail specific riding to mountain biking and, potentially, adventure riding which we hope will include an overnight bikepacking trip. The support that we have received from the community, Savage’s and the administration at George Street Middle have been a heartfelt endorsement that folks understand the social, environmental and physical benefits of this seemingly simple activity.
Ride action IS right action.
